Lobby as Urban Gallery, April 2019

Existing lobbies in 1801K building, K street lobby(main lobby) and L street lobby separated from each other. Through the grand lobby concept, it plays important role in pedestrian connectivity from K street to L street with strong relationship with D.C urban community. The cutting-edge design of gallery wall in  the grand lobby has spacial qualities of contemporary office building. Continuous rectang-linear gallery wall from out-side of K street connected to inside of L street lobby and integrated visitors’ circulation. K street lobby as art gallery: recessed / punched wall by black granite makes display space of art works. The feature wall by Callacata vision marble in the lobby makes the first impression of image of 1801K’s luxury business office to visitors. Callacata vison marble feature wall has two lighting systems. The slot-recessed wall graze luminaries at ceiling illuminates callacata marble patterns, and continuous balance system with adjustable accent luminaries are for the illumination of installation art in front of the feature wall. Black granite gallery wall has concealed linear fluorescent luminaries at feature wall for the indirect lighting. Continuous recessed slot system with adjustable accent luminaries are for the illumination of art works inside of the gallery wall. Hall of lobby is illuminated by linear fluorescent luminaries above barrisol (Stretch ceiling system) panels.
